Everything for the fire lives right under it. Firewood and tools in the base, steaks searing in the center, dinner for the whole group on the steel around it, and the fire pit still going after the plates are cleared.
Sear in the center, griddle all around
A removable grill grate sits over a wood or charcoal fire and passes 1,000°F. Around it, a 40" ring of ½" hot-rolled steel gives you 1,250+ sq in to cook on, hot near the fire (about 450 to 550°F) and gentler toward the edge (about 250 to 350°F, measured by Arteflame on a Classic 40). The steel sits between the fire and the food, so grease cannot drip into the flames, and the slightly dished cooktop sends excess grease to the center, where it burns off.
A base that stores the firewood
The tall CORTEN storage base keeps firewood, charcoal or tools within reach: a removable stainless steel shelf makes two compartments of 10" high each, and an internal drain keeps them dry when it rains. It brings the cooktop to 40", bar height.
Built from CORTEN steel
The fire bowl and base are 10-gauge CORTEN steel, about 3.4 mm thick. It forms a protective rust-colored patina and needs no paint, and Arteflame builds it to stay outside all year.

Questions buyers ask
Can it go on a wood deck? Arteflame recommends tiles or a grill mat under any Arteflame grill on a wood or manufactured deck.
Does it need a cover? No. Once the cooktop is seasoned and lightly oiled it can stay outside all year; a cover is optional.
How long does it take to heat up? Allow 30 to 45 minutes for the steel to heat through.
What fuel does it use? Hardwood such as hickory, oak, maple or fruit wood, or lump charcoal. Skip softwoods like pine and manufactured logs.
Can it run on gas? It is gas-ready: the center hole in the fire bowl takes a 1" gas pipe, for conversion by a professional installer.
How is it delivered? By freight, curbside, with free shipping in the contiguous US. Inspect the boxes before you sign, note any damage on the delivery receipt and report it within 48 hours of delivery.
What if something is wrong? You contact us, and we handle the warranty claim with Arteflame for you. Arteflame gives a 3-year limited warranty on manufacturing defects.
