How to use this chart

  1. Pick heat type first. If you want steam or heat above 150°F, only the two traditional rows and the hybrid row apply. If you want a standard 120V outlet, only the infrared rows up to 2 person apply.
  2. If infrared, pick an EMF tier. Low is the entry tier; Golden Designs is Near Zero across the board; Maxxus and Dynamic let you pay $200 to $800 more for a lower reading on the same cabin.
  3. Match capacity to who will actually use it on a normal weeknight, then check the electrical column against the circuit you have.
  4. Open the brand collection and compare the two or three cabins left standing.

Frequently asked questions

Which sauna brand has the lowest EMF?
Golden Designs rates every infrared cabin it makes Near Zero EMF (under 3 milligauss at 2 to 3 inches). Maxxus offers Near Zero on nine cabins from 2 to 4 people, and Dynamic on most of its Full Spectrum models. All three use the same measurement distance, so the figures are directly comparable.

What is the largest home sauna available?
Golden Designs makes the 8 person Catalonia and 8 person Full Spectrum infrared cabins ($8,999 and $9,999), which are the largest we carry. The largest traditional and hybrid cabins seat 6, as do Sweat Kingdom's biggest cedar cabins.

Is Sweat Kingdom an infrared or traditional sauna?
Traditional. Sweat Kingdom builds solid red cedar boxes, pods, barrels and cabins in East Idaho and pairs them with electric Harvia, HUUM or Homecraft stoves of 4 to 9 kW, heating to 110 to 230°F. They are modular outdoor units rather than infrared cabins.

Do I choose EMF tier before or after capacity?
Heat type first, then capacity, then EMF tier. Capacity and electrical circuit rule out the most models; EMF tier is usually a $200 to $800 upgrade on a cabin you have already chosen.
